While I’ve watched Diff’rent Strokes – The Complete Second Season a lot, it seems to never get old. I guess it’s one of my favorites. If you haven’t seen it, or just haven’t watched it in a while – why not watch it now? Of course you can watch it later – for free – check the image to see how. It’s the best way I’ve found
*** Diff’rent Strokes – The Complete Second Season playing NOW!! ***

This is a great movie with Mary Jo Catlett, Danny Cooksey, Mary Ann Mobley, Dixie Carter
Basically it’s about:
Nowadays Diff’rent Strokes is best known for producing three of the most troubled former child stars in the history of entertainment, but in its day this was a top-rated sitcom. Gary Coleman wasn’t just a pair of cute chubby cheeks; he had the kind of wily comic timing that could have carried his career into adulthood–if his stardom hadn’t been linked to his physiqu, making adult roles unacceptable to his audience. But The Complete Second Season captures Coleman at his diminutive prime as Arnold Jackson, one of two brothers adopted by a wealthy New York developer named Philip Drummond (Conrad Bain, Maude). Bain and Charlotte Rae (as housekeeper Mrs. Garrett, who left mid-season to anchor the spin-off The Facts of Life) delivered their lines and got out of Coleman’s way; Dana Plato (as Drummond’s daughter Kimberly) and Todd Bridges (as Arnold’s brother Willis) acted their young hearts out, but Coleman was unqustionably the star.
A runaway success and pop culture phenomenon, the second season of Diff’rent Strokes pulled in celebrity sports stars like Muhammad Ali, Reggie Jackson, and Meadowlark Lemon, while great character actors like Dabney Coleman (Nine to Five) and James Cromwell (Babe, Six Feet Under) appeared in memorable roles. The crossover episodes with justly forgotten McLean Stevenson sitcom Hello, Larry are regrettable (though Coleman had great chemistry with Hello, Larry’s husky-voiced Kim Richards, formerly the star of Escape from Witch Mountain), while the appearance of the Facts of Life cast (including a very young Molly Ringwald, prior to her teen qUn reign as star of The Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink) fits right in. Social topics like racism and poverty are treated with firm liberal denouncement, but the difficulties of adolescence sometimes get slightly more subtle treatment (comparatively, at least). The only complaint about The Complete Second Season is the complete lack of extras; but even without interviews or commentaries, these episodes–returned to their original broadcast length–will delight fans. –Bret Fetzer

*** watch Rat Race now!! ***
One of Breckin Meyer’s best movies. If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s no time like the present! If you’ve already seen it, it’ll be even better this time!
Modeled after 1963’s It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Jerry Zucker’s Rat Race lacks the irreverence of Zucker’s 1980 hit Airplane! but has enough chuckles to make it an agreeable time-killer. Like Mad, Mad, Mad…, it employs a huge ensemble of comedy stalwarts, assembled by an eccentric hotelier (pearly-toothed John Cleese) to race from Las Vegas to New Mexico for a $2 million jackpot. With a backstage gambling subplot, Rowan Atkinson’s Italian-geek lunacy, Seth Green’s slacker antics, and some nicely understated work from SCTV alumnus Dave Thomas, the movie has almost as many highlights as clunkers, and Zucker’s embrace of easy gags and traditional slapstick will tickle anyone’s old-fashioned funny bone. Other ingredients are hopelessly stale: Whoopi Goldberg’s frantic mugging, Cuba Gooding’s latter-day Stepin Fetchit, “mature” humor that compromises the movie’s broad appeal, and the assumption that crashing vehicles are inherently hilarious. Lamentable decisions, perhaps, but Rat Race maintains a pleasantly altruistic spirit. –Jeff Shannon

*** watch The Food of the Gods!! ***
The Food of the Gods is awesome. I’ve probably seen it 20 times, and I never get tired of it. Have you seen it? If you click the image above you can learn how you can watch it now, or any time.
The movie stars:
Marjoe Gortner, Pamela Franklin, Ralph Meeker, Jon Cypher, Ida Lupino
and here’s the plot:
Though many of director Bert I. Gordon’s previous films tackle the man versus nature theme central to the sci-fi genre, Food of the Gods’ ecological concern makes it a bit more prescient than his classics from the 50s and 60s. Having unleashed gargantuan humans in Village of the Giants, and insects in Empire of the Ants, Gordon adapted the eponymous H.G. Wells novel into a film that highlights human responsibility in nature as well as his ability to make animals look as large as trees and cars. Set on an island off the Canadian coast, Morgan (Marjoe Gortner) and some buddies from his football team retreat to the “country,” but flee horrified after three giant wasps sting their friend to death. Following this initial attack, the viewer learns that on a nearby farm, Mrs. Skinner (Ida Lupino) and her husband are feeding a mysterious, toxic ambrosia labeled F.O.T.G. to their chickens, causing them to grow into huge mutants. As other forest dwellers accidentally ingest this foamy liquid, which bubbles up from the ground in a polluted artesian well, they become rabid human killers, symbolizing the revenge nature reaps on those who don’t protect her. Meanwhile, bacteriologists Jack Bensington (Ralph Meeker) and Lorna (Pamela Franklin) visit to buy the rights to this disgusting, yellow goo. The most satisfaction comes during scenes in which maggots hiding amongst Mrs. Skinner’s canned peaches attack her arm, or when giant rats invade a neighbor’s motorhome. The culmination of horror in the final scenes is slightly gory (think bomb-exploded rats) but humorous enough not to nauseate. Serious environmental undertones in Food of the Gods only add depth to its schlocky tendencies, making it, overall, a great example of the “gigantic creature” special effects mastered by this remarkable director.
